For the price, I couldn’t not pick it up. The seller accepted $50 for it, and the bike is almost perfect. If nothing else, the middleweight chrome drop centers may end up on my upcoming Strato Flyer build. I also really like the sprocket, for an adult sized Stingray build I’m pondering.

I got a seat like that at a swap it is awesome. Many cool parts and the original paint frame may be cool project too!

Very good score . Make sure you wash the Cornagunk off it and wash your hands :eek:

I Lysol’d the crap out of it when I picked it up. I picked it up from an older couple, and they were both wearing masks, and apologizing for having. The Lady said “We’re sorry for wearing these masks - we’re just trying to avoid this crap!” I told her “Trust me - it’s not bothering me one bit!”

@horsefarmer

The seat is cool - it looks much older than the bike. I kinda even like the brown grips that matches the color of it. I’ve been bouncing around a twin bar lightweight build that looks like a turn of the century bike, so I may use some of this stuff. I rode it around a little yesterday, and it’s super smooth. It’s much lighter than my Shelby and Schwinn that I usually ride.

Yeah I think we're entering a buyer's market for bikes. I could be wrong though, maybe with all the spare time, people will come back to biking. I'm hoping that this shakeup will rattle some cool old konas and Specializeds off of garage walls where they've been gathering dust. I don't wanna take people's rides, just the unused ones of course.

Or, if you want to go ‘hot rod’ maybe some 26x2.0 WTB Thickslicks?

This little bike cleaned up really nicely. Coincidentally, I just happen to have a fat ducktail rear fender that couldn’t be a better match in color if came on the bike. I could leave it full length, or chop it down and make a ducktail shorty fender. I’m definitely going to use the seat on another project, but the more I look at the bike, it’s almost too nice to bust apart. I can easily (and cheaply) make myself a clean little daily rider out of it.

Even though the bike is around 40 years old, I don’t think it was ever ridden much at all. Everything is way too tight and smooth.

I may just try to turn it into a nice 26” version of my son’s ratty Ted Williams muscle bike. Apes, with white grips, a white banana, and some some fat n’ skinnys and leave it alone!
