Have a 5 speed Spyder having problems with shifter need help. When you shift gears shifter won’t stay in gear goes back to fifth position. Anyone have a breakdown of shifter or any information I would appreciate any help

As the saying goes, there are a lot of working parts in a derailleur. Basic function is that a derailleur wants to go to a higher gear and is prevented from doing so by the tension of the cable. I'm not familiar with that cool 5-on-the bar shifter you have there, and whether it's a friction shifter or an index shifter. If the former, you need to figure out how to adjust the friction. If the latter, you need to see why the ratchet isn't catching.

Indexed shifting didn't become commonplace until the 1980's, so this is almost certainly a friction design.

The console you have is friction. If you remove the cover, you'll find a bolt that holds the shift handle against the shift body. That adjusts the tension. Yours is too loose, and not holding the derailleur's return tension.
