The pads that are used for your knees when working in the garden is nice stuff. I have seen different thicknesses but seems to average 1/2 inch.

I just bought one of those at K-world!! feels like its gonna be good and was only $4!!

Use what they call Hi Density Foam ..... It's sandable with sandpaper so you can conture odd shapes or radius the edges. .... Find some one that re-upolsters Motorcycle seats.... they use it.... its white colored, 1/4 thick and can be glued with rubber cement.
You can add layers to make it thicker. Its the best thing going for bicycle seats.

A gel seat cover trimmed to size worked well in my old schwinn seat. I can ride it all day now.

Go to WalMart in the Sporting Goods section and buy one of the foam pads that goes under a sleeping bag for camping. It's closed cell foam, 1/2" thick and really dense. You get a nice big piece for cheap. I used contact cement to glue it to the pan. I added a layer of auto seat padding on top of the blue foam and then covered it with leather. It made the banana seat much more comfy. Gary
