got a new seat from ifitsfreeitsforme, awesome, highly recommended, but doesn't fit my laid back seat post, what does everyone do? Find a clamp from an older seat? Maybe an old question, but it's my first old seat post. Thanks for the advice.

I use a clamp from an old seat usually. I have one spare plug type shim but I can only find these once and awhile on eBay. I have also made my own shims. They don't always work well and need fiddling with, the type os fiddling depends on if you have rails or flat stock that the seat guts attach to. I have also welded on the right size end.

Or, ground down the space between the guts clamp so it closes farther onto the 5/8 rod.

Someone needs to start making the shims again.

Yes ! I save all the old seats, bolts and clamps - Very handy to get seats to work with new bike projects.
