Seeking suggestions for tank plate metal source

I want to make a tank plate out of sheet metal and I'm a bit stumped on potential sources for cheap. There are plenty of metal fab shops in the local area willing to sell me something but I'd consider that or a small sheet from a big box store only as last resorts. Any suggestions for where to look?

I've always used old signs. Be it steel or aluminum. I've been able to get them from work or the dump. Also living on a corner I get a lot of "Open House" signs that aren't picked back up in a timely manner so they disappear.

I had an old stainless steel oven hood that has supplied me for several little projects.

times two on the sighns. look near construction sights for ones that fell off temp fence panels. they work really good.

Cut it large trim to fit.

I was given and old dryer. Plenty of usable metel there
