HaHaHaHaHa!!! How's that for a thread topic!

Here is a ladies Schwinn "Sports Tourer" that a gal at work gave me this past summer. I picked up the Schwinn "World Sport" on craigslist for fifteen bucks (I paid more than that in shipping).

I plan on powder coating, cutting the handlebars into "steerhorns", and giving the bike a whole new look.

I transvestited (sp?) more than one bike in my life time.(my bud has a chicken spit welder and I have a rat tail file, Bondo and the patience of a Saint)


Good luck on cutting those bars into Bullhorns...

I did it on my Varsity Fixie.

It took the patience of a Saint to cut them right.

I sliped a 27" innertube over them.

What do you mean MagicRat? What is there to cutting the handlebars...what am I in for? Thanks for any insight.

Measure them a coupla 3 or 4 times then cut them straight with a new hacksaw blade.

It's technically not a sex xhange unless you're cutting out the second tube on a ladies' frame and welding in a straight one. More of a donor situation... Just sayin' . :mrgreen: -Adam

So Far, So Good...

I wanted to get the bike 100% functional before making mods or powder coating or dropping any more money on it. It rides real nice. Cutting the handlebars and adding some bar tape is next.

As far as cutting the bars, maybe try to find a pipecutter to get it straight. Or make your marks and cut about 1/8" or so past the mark then use a grinder to get it to the mark in case you have to fix any minor imperfections
