Seems like they show up from time to time with some new design.

Get rid of cable hangers and stuff like that and this bike could be made to look pretty decent. I've always thought that the shaft drive looked pretty clean.
This was in my Amazon daily spam.
 
bevel gears (there's one at each end of the shaft) are inefficient. if you're happy to get 3/4s of your legs' power converted into forwad motion instead of virtually it all, then go ahead.
i won't be joining you, i prefer oily jeans :D
 
Yeah, 98% efficiency is a pretty good result, that's why it's still around after more than 100 years. Plus you can find parts everywhere. A calf tattoo is a cool thing.
