I wandered out to the garage with tinkering with my bicycles in mind - and came back about 4 hours later, long after Mrs BDC had toddled off to bed.
First job was fit the Dynamo light set to the Kona 'Scrambler'. These are just a backup for the pretty good USB and battery lights I normally use - but am sick of running out of charge half way home with - yeah yeah - I know I just have to be smarter than the battery. The 6V system is not very bright at normal speeds - but they look cool and go with the stylez of the way the bike has turned out. Good backup.
Then it was a new rear light on the Electra. It's winter here - not that it gets cold - just dark pretty early.
It's looking pretty good. Next is a Boxkars stick shift that Jeff is working on a mounting bracket for. Very good service too.

It should look phat.
Seeing the pic I should have tightened that chain too.
But by then I was on to a bigger task. I've warped another chain ring on the Mongoose. Pulling my payload from a standing start the mild steel ring torqued out of round - tight spots on the chain. So I straightened the original 40T (with a mallet) and reinstalled. Riding a lot smoother now and it's amazing what a difference 4 teeth on the front can make. It appears strong enough - just have to be careful not to bend it on a gutter again.
By this time I was on a roll - even gave Mrs BDC's a once over and fitted a new front light:
I ran out of puff before I got to her MTB though. She doesn't ride it since she got the cruiser anyway.
I was so pleased with myself I even tidied up afterwards
Well - almost....
Funny how we change?
Not so long ago I would have spent this juice on a nice motorcycle.
Now I have a trail bike and enjoy tinkering with my bicycles.
I still enjoy both.
