shifter question

Finally back from the holiday get away and in civilization again (ie: have internet connection) so time to get Social Deviation rolling.
I am using an Shimano SG 3530 rear hub a friend gave me before moving away. I have very little experience with 3 speed hubs so was wondering if they require a specific shifter for them or will any 3 speed shifter work? Thanks for any help.

I would go with a shifter made by the same maker as the hub. Seems pretty fool proof as a start. :wink: Later & PEACE!!!!!

most will work but some won't.

theres an element of forgiveness.

you just need to set the second gear (n)
total slack will give you first, taunt 3rd (or vise versa)

suntour shifters work perfectly also.

so far i have found every shimano shifter intended for a 3 speed hub will work with any of the shimano 3 speed hubs old or new. i would not use shifters intended for other hubs as the detents might not be spaced right which will lead to disaster for the hub.
