Hey, new guy here. I've been lurking for a while now and I have to say, this is one of the most courteous forums I've had the pleasure of reading through. It's nice to know there are still people on the internet that can discuss things without bickering or being rude.
Anyway, to the question... I started slowly building a beach cruiser for my dad out of an old JC Higgins a few months ago (see fuzzy pic below) and I've been able to answer most questions I've had through google, sheldonbrown.com, and various forum searches but it's come time for me to pick out new rims and I'm having a hard time figuring out which ones will work well with wider tires (I want to use either 26 x 2.125's or 2.35's) So... any suggestions on some good 26" 36h rims, preferably red, that I should be looking at?
Here's my progress so far. The steerer tube on the original fork was bent pretty badly and since I wanted a disc brake on the front anyway I ended up fitting in a 1 1/8in threadless headset and a Surly 1X1 fork on the front (haven't decided how high I want it so it's not cut yet). I had the frame and tank powder coated and installed a bottom bracket converter as well. Next step is getting a new BB, crankset, and hopefully a Nexus-8 IGH.
Sorry for the poor quality, my phone doesn't take the greatest of pictures. The tank looks really orangish here but it's actually very much red in color.
