You will want Schwinn S-2 rims for "normal size" 26 inch tires... Or find some Araya 7X rims... Two of the most common wheels for early Klunkers. But if your funds do not allow and your not going to beat on the bike.. Just find some everyday 26 inch rims... There is so much you can do or not do to make it "correct" or make it your own. Build your vision... The neck is normal... 1"... Wald makes a good budget BMX style fork... Browse a couple pictures up at my budget klunker... Most of all have fun!!!
If you build it, smiles will come!!

The post above is awesome!

Not mine, but I spotted this one at my employer. Not really a klunker too, but had to share it.
Don't know if I hate it or love it, but it has this uncanny coolness.

Definitely cool! Koga Miyata was a Japanese company, made really good steel hardtails. I've never seen one as modern as that, or one with rear suspension, but it is wearing great parts, so I'd wager that the quality is still there. And that wheelset... :inlove:

I believe that the frame builder Miyata does not build frames anymore for Koga. Koga's are still quality bicycles, but a bit boring in my opinion. The only framebuilder in the BeNeLux is "Achielle". The rest is Chinese or from Taiwan.
The bike from the picture is a perfect sleeper bike. Quality stuff but not looking expensive at first glance. I really like the gusset that connects the shock to the frame.

An "Achielle Omer" frame could be a cool Klunker base. If I find one within my budget

Just did a quick search, you are right, Koga and Miyata dissolved the partnership in 2010. I never knew they were 2 companies working together, let alone that Koga was from Friesland! This makes me want one even more now. I guess we can conclude that the bike is over 10 years old now

One that I’m currently messing with. Prewar Flash, Harris Built I believe. I picked up the frame a few years ago. Bought it simply for how it was badged. Never seen a Flash. It was in great shape, but had 5-6 coats of latex and enamel. Blasted it and repainted with proper markings. Then ran across an old Proflex frame and fork in a bicycle boneyard with @Mr. Monkeyarms in Fort Collins. And let me say it was Ruff. rufff….. tore it all down polished the allloy. Painted the tubes to match frame. GT cranks , single speed coaster. Then I removed the front brake posts as they were a mess. Solid bike now. i may lace a drum into the wheel.

Little different setup. CrMo custom seatpost. Haven't ridden her in a while. Busy life and lots of rain this time of year.
