Single stem cruiser bars w/ BMX stem

Has anyone ever used a BMX stem with single stem cruiser handlebars? The single stem bars have a raised area in the center with knurls. Would there be enough pressure from a 4 bolt BMX stem to hold the bars?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I found that in order to tighten the BMX stem down enough to make it tight and safe, you usually end up crushing the raised area of the bars.

So the cruiser bars seen with BMX stems are typically made without the raised section? I would like to use a BMX stem with cruiser bars, but cannot seem to find any bars w/o raised centers. Any recomendations on where to find the right bars?
