Is there a skiptooth cog available for a Sturmey Archer AW 3 speed? Or is this a thing I will have to fabricate? I've got a fun project coming up that I want to keep skiptooth and be a 3 speed. But at the same time it's not something I have a lot of knowledge on... any ideas or info out there?

Carl.

One of the site sponsors sells a skip tooth cog for a three speed, and I think it's designed for the S.A.
Ill try to find a link.

Ok, can't find the link.
I'm pretty sure it was porkchop or ichi bike that sold them, but nothing listed on their sites. I know it's out there, somewhere.

Sturmey-Acher was running 1/2"-pitch gear from jump. Here's a picture of a 1910 model, which has the 1/2" sprocket

You'd probably have the easiest time running an Ichi cog. Or, of course, running 1/2" chain, like Henry Sturmey and James Archer intended.

Cool, I saw these on Ebay too. I was curious if there was ever a vintage skiptooth AW. I don't think so...

See above... AW not 1910... so yeah probably easier to change a cog to get what I want to build, rather than change everything else just to keep Henry and James happy... I believe, since I have taken a couple of these apart now multiple times, that to keep the vintage rattyness of the bike I am building, putting a skiptooth cog on an AW hub (which I have and have parts for...) allows me to continue to use the nice skippy crankset and chain that is currently on the bike. Besides, I actually like to raise the eyebrows of all the cork sniffers...

Yeah, sure, but the AW didn't come out for another 25 years after 1910; my point being, Sturmey-Archer didn't play around with skiptooth set-ups. It's awesome that Ichi offers a compatible skiptooth sprocket. My post was mostly in response to

Just trying to confirm that, indeed, there weren't skiptooth Sturmey-Archers... not even earlier models had'm, let alone the comparatively modern AW.

I have a 1949 sturmey archer hub that's skiptooth, but I dont know if it's original or a really old custom job.
