The “Slow Spokes DFW” cruiser bicycle club invites all fans of cruiser style bicycles (beach cruisers, vintage balloon tires, muscle bikes, ratrod bikes, kustom bikes, comfort bikes, etc.) to join them for a cruiser bike ride on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1:30 PM. We will meet in front of the Reverchon Recreation Center at 3505 Maple Ave, Dallas, TX 75219. Reverchon Park is adjacent to the popular Katy Trail.
The Katy Trail is a 3.7 mile concrete jogging & bicycling path that runs through the Uptown and Oak Lawn areas of Dallas, Texas. Part of the national Rails to Trails program, the Katy Trail follows a segment of the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, which was known as “MKT” or the “Katy," and was shut down in the late 1980s.
We will ride through Reverchon Park and follow the path that connects to the Katy Trail. We will then ride a short distance on the Katy Trail South to the end (near the American Airlines Center). We’ll then turn around and ride to the North end of the Katy Trail (near SMU). From there, we will head back (all downhill) and make a pit stop at the Katy Trail Ice House. The Ice House is a casual restaurant with a large outdoor seating area next to the trail. The Ice House has corn-hole/bean-bag toss courts set up. If y’all are up to it, we could have a corn-hole toss tournament.
It’s a short ride back to Reverchon Park from the Icehouse. The total ride should be about 8 miles or so. Please join us for fun times with great folks and cool bikes.
