i had a buddy tell me about a place with bikes .....so i drove about 50 some miles 2 check this out ....
i get there and the guy has a rhodes 4 wheel car/bike out front ....very cool ...guy across town wants 2 build one ...im gettin in on that !!
anyway ..i pull up and check stuff out !! nothing 2 eye catching ...but i seen a electra strech crusier , the wheels looked like they were polished stainless...very shiney ,fatt o tires ..big ol beach bars ...my GF said she liked it ...!!! i may b going back next friday 2 get it !!! what is this thing worth ....i dont wanna get shafted !!! and r these a decent bike or junkie junk !!!
then i see a spoiler sittin there ...im checkin it out ..looks very nice !! this guy is putin them little motors on like all these bikes and he had em all over the shop ...so i say how much for this one ...he said 1350.00 ..after he puts the motor on it ....NOOOOWWWW i know these r worth some cash ,but wont it screw up the vaule if he puts a motor on it ?? and what r they goin for anyway ?? he had a few others sittin around i think about 10 of em had motors on em ...motors sittin all over the shop ..it was a very cool shop !!!!
i wonder if he buys bikes.... ...LOL
no i didnt take any pics cause everything was inside the shop all tucked in order and i didnt have cash 2 buy so i wasent gonna aske him 2 dig em out 4 nothing ..he wasent very talkative anyway ,he was workin on a motor on a bike so he was kinda well mayb he wasnt even open ....LOL nothing was outside i just kinda walked up and walked rite on ...might have mad him a little pissy ..if so sorry man !!! ..but hope when i go back he has em all outside ...then ill get some pics ..

Illinois sure has cornered this thread! We've all seen these "motorbikes" on CL up and down the entire state. Some are mildly cool, others are just stupid. I see a lot of $100 Walmart bikes being given a $100 Chinese motor and the asking prices are always $450-$500. Ummmm, no.

Yeah $1350 is WAY off even with the motor kit installed, Even the nicer engine kits are $189 and the bike is worth maybe $400-$500 if it's absolutely MINT condition. At $1350 I'd laugh in his face and walk away.

You hit the nail on the head there my friend. They are a little better though if you throw all the bolts that come with it away and buy good "grade 8" bolts from the hardware store and put it together. I've built a few of them and with quality bolts they are a bit more reliable but still shake you to death. Of coarse here in Indiana we still get away with riding scooters and mopeds with no license so they are nothing more than a novelty here. :mrgreen:

I've never seen an electra stretch so I couldn't begin to tell you. If it was of the ghostrider/rat fink variety in great shape, $300-$400
