I have an old seat I want to use for the latest build.
Says Fisher Made in Holland on a tag across the back.
The springs are really soft so when I sit on it they compress all the way. Anything I can do to stiffen it up?

you can try and re temper them... if you get it right it will work, if you mess it up they may be too hard (snap) or too soft (bendy)...

I heat em up and dunk em in oil, but you can oil flash em, or boil em in lead, or bake em in sand too..

Well g-ratter did this on a saddle, just get 2 stiffer springs off 2 mountain bikes and use them vertically.

I did see some of the double cone shaped motorcycle springs on ebay. They are 3" so chould work with some modification to the under carriage.
Was hoping for an idea that would not cost me much.

That's not a bicycle saddle at all (really),,, it's a bobber motorcycle seat pan with hairpin springs and a bicycle saddle frame fit to it.

OP: what you can look for is motorcycle bobber seat springs.
They come in two varieties--scissor or hairpin springs (the "sideways" coils) and barrel or beehive springs (the "normal" kind of spring that's fattest in the center and tapers towards the ends). You can usually get them in different lengths too--like, 2, 3, 4 and 5 inches I have seen very common.

DougC that is a picture from my "wretched" build. I did a seat build in the how to section. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25214
It was patterned off a bobber seat concept using Harley springs purchased on Ebay.
May go with the behive spring idea. Still deciding.
