I picked up a 1983 Sears 3 speed trike. The old wheels are too rusty. It uses hollow hubs with a 5/8" hole. It's been a little harder than I figured to find wheels. Any help would be appreciated. The trike seems identical to a Town and Country. Thanks, Nut

Sinner, thanks for your response. I had checked that place out. Their wheels are for a 15MM axle. My axles are 15.9 mm (or 5/8) I had thought about buying them and running a 5/8" drill through, but it's sketchy, a little too sketchy.

google around or call them and see if they have what you want. Or keep the hubs and buy new rims and build your own. OR Disassemble, blast and have them painted or powder coated

Thanks Uncle! Oddly we might shop the same Northern Tool, I live near the Stafford TX store. The wheel/tire you showed is a great price and has an strong load rating. It's a 26 instead of 24, and needs that bearings knocked out and bushings made. I am feeling blessed with my metal lathe, so it's no biggie. I have a line on used wheels from another forum too, but the price on those is higher. Thanks again.

I'd try to replace the rims and keep the hubs.

I've seen some garden-cart wheels at Northern tool that have spokes that are not threaded- just riveted into the rim. I assume those are undesirable- take a look before buying.

I did pick up a set of those Northern Tool Rims. The biggest issue with these rims is that the hub is almost 4 1/2 inches wide. The spokes are very thick, but can not be adjusted. I'm not sure I will be using the wheels. I have a kinda out there idea about using disk brakes from a pair of scooters I scrapped. The large diameter of the hub makes what looks like a good mounting point for the rotors. I hope to have some adapters wipped up this evening.

Thanks for the good advise so far. I am getting back into bikes after being out for 17 years, and I have lots to learn.
