I thought the foot was a kickstand, which I thought brilliant, but then I saw the actual kickstand, so... what does the foot do?

By looking at the mechanics of it, I'd say "Nonfunctional brakes". Just as much function as the propeller for propulsion.

Thanks for the comments! The shoe is supposed to be an emergency brake - but I like the kickstand idea.
