I like this ad. This is classic Chicago. He says not to take action if you find the bikes. In other words, don't call the cops. Call the guy that owns the bikes instead...because he will turn the rip-offs names over to his Uncle Vito and they'll end up in freshly poured concrete at O'Hare Airport. 8) Gary

The poster seems so calm about it too...that's cool, cuz if he catches up to those dudes, I don't think it would be pretty.

I remember once when riding my silver recumbent around I met this stupid kid (who was riding a bike w/no seat) who said I should watch out 'cause I could get hit over the head and he could take it.
I spent about 5 min.'s trying to explain to him that "this is the only bike like this, IN THE WORLD!" And that stealing it would be retarded, because it could be easily I.D.ed.
All I got was a deer in the headlights look, this thief must be from the same gene pool.

Stealing bikes...unbelievable. I was just last week reading a story in a local paper about a guy who had his grandfather's old tank bike stolen of his front porch! He was shattered. The guy loved it because it was in the family so long, and was obviously, not replacable. At least in a small town, it may show up. Local bike stores won't touch vintage bikes. Ebay and CL you can monitor, and God forbid if you see the creep riding your bike around town.

thats a shame. thats also why i keep all my bikes locked up, too. luckily the only bikes i had stolen from me were huffy mountain bikes, unlocked, and i wasnt all that upset about it. all i can say, is that karmas a...

I really don't have any sympathy for people that get bikes stolen "out of the front yard" or "right off the porch." In today's world you've got to be more careful, and don't make the job easier than it needs to be for potential theives. A lot of those crimes are just crimes of oppurtunity, meaning they'd steal it off the porch, but not out of the garage locked up. People that leave valuables outside should be prepared to eventually lose them, sad but true. Thats why I keep all my bikes/tools/cars in the garage, with the door locked.

Grow a brain morans, lock up your stuff! Sort of hope they get their bikes back, if not learn something from this!

*apoligies if the bikes were locked up in the front yard, but from the sound of it they were just sitting there.

Seems pretty silly to steal a RatPatrol bike. Probably a joyride but still not cool.

I always lock my bike when not in my garage. At work it gets indoor parking while the cars have to stay outside.

Here is a happy ending to a bike theft. It was stolen as it was unlocked.

The bike’s owner told police someone took the unlocked bike from in front of a home near the W. Camas Street/Cole Road neighborhood in South Boise sometime between 2:30 to 2:45 a.m. July 4.

The owner then discovered his bike for sale for $500 on popular online classified Web site Craigslist July 5 and called Boise police for help, according to reports. The owner knew it was his bike because he was able to spot some unique damage and specific modifications.

The owner arranged to meet the seller — later identified as Horner — at a nearby park, where officers confronted Horner and found some undisclosed evidence that he stole the bike, according to reports.
