My nephew is now ending 3rd grade and STILL can not ride without training wheels, and has absolutely no ambition to learn. I am not only frustrated with this child but with my sister as well. Before you think I'm stuck up just wanted to also share that for Christmas they bought him a 400.00 bike and act like it is no thing that it is just sitting in the garage with flat tires.

OK thanks for letting me vent, now I'm off to help my 5 year old daughter ride without her training wheels!

My 3year old daughter rides her bike with training wheels. I have no doubt she will be riding without by next summer, she's very ambitious, and LOVES her and my bikes. (she has 3 bikes of her own already, and rides every one of them)

You think that's bad?

i could have wrote this word for word, except i don't know what grade my nephew is in. i know he's 9 years old.

two weekends ago my sister asked if i could take her in my truck to buy her son a new bike. i've made him two years back, she brought him an 18" later that just sat and is now too small (the two i made were stolen), and this makes the 4th. while we were there he tried to get some kind of big star wars toy instead but my sister was determined to get him a bike.

i went back later and he was on it, but just couldn't ride. i kinda thought my sister made him try 'cause he didn't seem like he wanted to be on it. i tried helping him for a bit, but he had no balance at all and didn't put forth much effort to pedal or hold himself up or anything.

bettween weather and work i haven't been back, but i have one of those beach trikes and a stretch i mean to have him try (no balance needed for the trike so he can just work on pedaling. and sitting low enough to put his feet down easy on the stretch). i also think it could be nervousness from people being around so i may try taking him to a more private spot, and throw something in the truck for my sister too. if i can, i'll get him riding.
