Sturmey Archer 3 speed

I have no clue what is going on. I decided to take my 1979 Schwinn Stingray apart because it needed a good cleaning. I got this bike as a gift about 6 years ago and have never been able to ride it because it did not shift right... Every bit of adjustment would not help so it just sat untill about a year ago I tried to get it going again. I did get to ride it around the block in 3rd gear but it still would not shift so it sat again. Now I get it back out and it will not pedal at all! There is no forward motion when trying to pedal. I have a Schwinn repair book so I decided to take the hub apart and see if I could spot anything. Nothing looked like it was broken so I cleaned it up well and put it back together. Now the same problem is occuring. No forward motion.... If anybody has any input or ideas all help would be appriciated!

Well I finally figured it out... I just started to spin the wheel backwards for awhile and somehow, I have no idea how, it worked! I have it just about where I want it adjustment wise so i'm pretty happy! For those wondering it is the dreaded S3C hub...
