This time of year the sun is low in the sky. I am wearing a Bell " Adult " size bike helmet with a stubby break away visor. It must be designed that way so that you do not break your neck in a fall. The trouble is that I am totally blinded by the sun. I am safer wearing a baseball cap,because I can see where I am going.I could not find any bike products that address this So I purchased a set of thin plastic cutting mats from Bed Bath and Beyond to fabricate my own sun visor. Thin,flexible and several colors to choose from. Attached it to the original visor with 2 colored cable ties through holes that I drilled. Problem solved.

The Euros used to wear a cycling cap under their helmet. The caps had a nice visor.
My face burns easily and badly and is apparently allergic to sunscreens. I generally forgo the helmet ans just wear a hat. I have thought of doing what you did though. Can you post a pic?
