Testing and reviving Bendix red band automatic hub.

My brother picked up this Schwinn lightweight rear wheel years ago at a swap.

He never did anything with it, so today I put an old Schwinn tire on it and tried it in a lightweight bike.

Coaster brake works great, but I don't notice any gear shifting. is there a certain technique to get it to shift? Usually I add 3 in 1 oil in old SA hubs with oil ports. is there a way to get some oil in this hub, maybe ride it a bit and see if it starts shifting?

opening the hub requires a special tool which isn't tough to make.

Schwinn Jaguar 2-speed kick-shift not shifting

Hey guys, I got a lead on a Schwinn Jag'. The bike pedals fine, but does not kick back to shift. Anyone know what is involved in troubleshooting this and fixing it?
