THE BMX BOOMARANG

Today I picked up an old school 85 GT Mach One BMX bike from a guy who lives out near Canton. The funny thing is...I sold him this bike about a year and a half ago.

I had picked it up from the original owner off the CL 2 years ago and I went over the whole bike and cleaned and lubed everything. I got it riding real nice and it's one of the tightest vintage BMX bikes I have ever had. It was one of those bikes that I regretted selling because it was kind of ratty and it was fun to goof around on with my kids and it screams old school bmx. It's got the perfect amount of oxidation and scratches and the paint has turned to a flat finish over the years.

I took a chance and emailed him last week to see if he still had it, and he did. He's getting married soon so his attention is elsewhere and he could use the money for those expenses instead. He also said he rode it 5 times and then it hung in the garage since then.

So...here she is, pretty much identical to when I sold it to him. I put a new seat and grips that I had from Porkchop BMX, but I may end up going with a black seat and grips eventually.

I had a set of new Duro skinwall freestyle tires from Porkchop too so I threw them on there to see how they'd look.

Back home again. :lol:

Here's how she looked when I bought it two years ago from the original owner. Only had one pedal because the left side crank arm was reamed out. Found a good crank off of an 84 Hutch that did the trick.

I never liked blue before, now for some reason, I love that color.
I like the white, but i bet black would set it off.

Cool story, I have had a few boomerang bikes myself. I have kept serial records of every bike I've owned since I was 7 years old. One 1980's Redline I thought I'd never get rid of, I sold it 7 times over the years. I first sold it to a guy in Peru, it came back and I found it at a yard sale the next summer in Kokomo and bought it again, sold it at a swap meet in Chicago and somehow it found me again, sold it a few times local craigslist, and even sold it on Ebay to a guy in California! It somehow found me AGAIN. Finally I broke it in half at the skatepark and scrapped it. If it comes back again I'll keep it. :lol:

Needs a rear wheel alignment:

I gave the nadlebars to my brother-in-law (not sure if they will end up on one of his old school BMXs or a Honda 50 or CT70), I have the forks and they are in good shape, the stem is on my '76 Murray cruiser, front wheel is trashed, rear wheel is trashed too, but attempts are being made to save the freewheel off the Araya, and other little parts are awaiting a home.

I like yours better, but I like my color. haha

Oh yeah, my chainring is just like yours, but bent, the pedals came off the crank without stripping and I think the arms are straight.

Super cool Mach 1 8) . Looks much better with the skin walls than with Kontacts. I notice you have done business with Justin too. Porkchop is the answer for old school BMX. He`s also got a 26"er 3 bar F/F thats cro-mo and sharp!!
Anyways, back to your GT lol. Do you have the matching Flick Trix for it? If you don`t I may. I`ll just have to look for it.
