I built The Bomber to compete in Atomic Cycles' "COASTER BRAKE CHALLENGE". Imagine, if you will, 15-20 maniacs all competing in a series of singlespeed, coaster-brake only, MTB races...

Early '80s Schwinn frame and fork, new OCC Stingray bars and BMX components. Wheels are old hard anno Sun rims with .120" Ti spokes laced to an ACS hub up front (front wheel not installed yet in the pics) and a Shimano MX Hi-flange coaster hub in the back.

Looks like a fun ride!

What gear ratio worked for you?

How did you do in the series?

I run a 32T front sprocket, and either a 18T or 20T cog in the rear, depending how much climbing we're doing that race. I didn't win any of them, but I wasn't the slowest, either. Best thing was that I never broke anything.
