I needed some steel for a project and scored some on Saturday on the way home from work. I wasn't even in "my" town but the attendant was more than happy to let me take away a ladies 5 speed raleigh and a Mongoose BMX bike (dept store model). The Raleigh offered up some steel tubing and a perfect brooks seat, decent bars and a nice stem, the mongoose had good rubber and that was it really.

But the best was yet to come!

That afternoon i did the real dump run to my town recycling center and picked up a pair of BOSE 901's! don't people throw away the nicest things?

Nice score! 901s are great speakers. I once found a pair of 901 stands for 5 bucks at a yard sale, I put some tabletops on them and they are now my living room side tables. :)

I remember 901's advertised as being impervious to too much power, you couldn't blow them. They were Bose's top of the line for years.

In May, the local thrift store on base had a couple of loudspeakers, no name on the cabinets, so I took a chance at 5 bucks apiece. I took the backs off at work to see what they were. Klipsch heresys! No kidding, and they were in fine shape. I've got them hooked up to a Bose CD radio using an Eico HF-81 as the amp. We don't even watch TV on the weekends anymore. We're listening to anything from the Delila show (for the wife of course) to Cd's of Van Morrison and SRV, etc. The more volume, the better it sounds. You would swear Miles Davis is right there playing.
