so i got a his and hers pair of 26" huffy frames my old school bike hook-up donated to me when i told him i wanted to build a tall bike. my friend chris welded it up. this thing is so fun to ride and i found out some people can turn their heads 270 degrees like a owl when drivin by  :D . i have 10 bucks in it. and a few parts i had layin around. the top two pics are how it sits today. twisted pedals, bullet light and new saddle(thanks michealscylcles!) i highly suggest building one. can anyone guess where the name came from?

That's nice Be carefull with the chain, when you run it from the top crank to the rear wheel directly it pulls the wheel weird and you can break chain or the wheel can slip.

really? that would not be fun on a tallbike. :( . i was thinkin about putting a crank with the arms cut off in the bottom bb and running the chain in a triangle. think that would be safer? ohh and after reading my post i definitely have more than $10 in it since i changed the saddle last nite. and those saddles are coooomfy!but its goin back with its brother on my tandem tonight. thanks for the good words guys

Are you talking something about the axel slots? Could you 'splain that one a little more? I never had that problem and I don't want to start now.

And yeah, thats a nice Tall Bike you got there son 8)

Nice bike. I do love the saddle. Is it harder to get on the bike or get off of it?
:? Let's just assume he means without breaking an arm. :p Surely it's not possible to fall ON.

For some reason when you have the chain like that and you apply force like when going uphill or doing wheelies it pulls the wheel some weird way and the wheel can slip, the chain can come off or break. I talked to a few people I know who have tallbikes also and they had the same problem so they did a "L" drive instead and havn't had any problem with it,I run the chain like that on my red tallbike and havn't had any problems with it but I don't know if that's because I have a deraileur. You probably won't have any problems with it as long as you don't crank with all your power.

ive always been told 2 fall offs = 1 fall on...but im starting to think thats just a roomer   i found that its easier to start climbing down while your still rollin. tryin slow down/stop and hop off seems to make a pretzel outta me.

Thanks BicycleGuy sounds good to me. I'm running a 3-speed coaster brake wheel and haven't put to much strain on the drive. I had changed the axle dropout slots on my tall bike to compensate for the chain drive. Maybe adding a chain adjuster would settle my fear. I always wondered if the axle would slip in the dropouts, drop a chain, and spit me on the street. Still it leaves me to wonder if having 2 chains gives me twice the chance for chain failure. When its good its good and when its bad its bad  I can live with that. :|

The Golden Hermy is still a good bike, nice job. 8)

Some of that may be caused by not having a straight line of tubing between the dropout and the crank. This particular bike has a fairly straight line and shouldn't be an issue.
This is the best lookin' tallbike I've seen so far, kudos!
