Found these old leather saddlebags at a flea market in Glenwood. They are a little smaller than bags I have seen before and will be just great for a bicycle. Not the current build-off bike, but some bike.

Back home now. Vacation's over. Had a brain storm while away on how to mount the rear of the rear rack. A fender stay and a wooden spacer. Should also give me a place to hang the exhaust pipes. Gotta get this figgered out and get all the wood parts filled, primed, and ready for that luscious lime paint. Just over a month to go.

Applied the first cote of finish to another "rat" project tonight. A little TruOil on a set of refinished used Mossberg 500 stocks. They go on my 20 gauge Maverick 88. My dad is in his 80's and still and avid clays shooter. Planning to go to Ohio in August and will need something to shoot.

Things are getting a little close on here. Now that I'm home I can move some stuff out of the way...

Worked on the rear rack tonight. Got the mount for the fender stay nailed down (and glued, too). Decided to go ahead and break out the Bondo and start filling nail holes and cracks. What's a ratty muscle car without some Bondo somewhere? Need to remove the tanks and Bondo spot them too. Need to get some Rustoleum texture paint for a bit of ratina on the wooden parts and some white primer for that sublime top coat.

Last year's build-off entry spent the winter in the shop. Need to get it out, clean it and go for a ride.

Been playing with the ratty Raleigh while the Bondo dries...

Tank and rack are coming together well. You've mentioned going for a 70s vibe a few times. When I saw the profile of that tank, the first thing I thought of was a 70s Huffy Camaro.

Nothing accomplished in the shop tonight (need to come up with a cool name for my shop like Odd Job!), but bike stuff did happen. Picked up a box of miscellaneous bike parts for $40. Modern items like 3pc cranksets, derailleur, 1-1/8" stem parts (no need for them currently), and some like new 700c rims and a new 26" rim. Could come in handy fixing those vintage 10 speeds I latched onto a few weeks ago.

Those Deore hollow tech cranks are worth the price of admission alone!

Your woodwork is taking shape! I'm with @LukeTheJoker , can't wait to see the 'wearing of the green' !

Name for your shed....I just had this memory , I know, it was so obvious for years now, but it just came to me....

I even had one of these as a young kid. Maybe your bike shed could be called the "handyandy's Tool Set", or just the Tool Set for short. Others.... you are in North Carolina correct? And your name is Andy..... "BikeBerry RFD".
"Gomer's Pile", "Floyd's"; okay so maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet. It's only 5:50 a.m.

I have been kicking around yet another bike project for the summer, a shop truck. Basically my '62 Columbia with a miniature wooden pickup bed on back. I wonder if there would be any legal ramifications if I used that Handy Andy logo on a tank plate?
