I wonder how effective that brake was.
Such "Stempelbremsen" (stamp brakes or plunger brakes?) are not particularly effective.
For one thing, you don't get very much power through the linkage and the power only acts on one point and not on two as with a u-brake or v-brake, for example. In addition, rubber meets rubber, and when the tire is wet, nothing happens anymore. With this kind of brake you can slow down your ride a little, that's it.
I remember that my first children's bicycle was fitted with such a brake. The brake pad was constantly coming off and flying around.....

On my military bike I also have this brakes. When riding in a platoon during service we used to piss off the ones at the end of the group by using this brake when going downhill... The smell when rubber meets rubber and gets hot is awful and you could see blue smoke coming out between brake and tire...

Those are way cooler then my 1996 Mercedes MTB Bike. On mine they didn't use the triangle emblem for the sprocket, but they did for the custom 3 mounting holes disc brake rotors and stamped it into each side of the Aluminum frame pivot plate/bracket.
Mine is no where near as rare, but also not a seen everyday bike.
