This is not a fresh find, but is the bike that got me hooked on this hobby big time! This is the pride of my fleet. It's an original paint, Snyder built 1948 Hawthorne! Someone took the time years ago to clear coat the heck out of the paint. My father and I made a 16 hour round trip south from Ontario, Canada (with time at the show) to Memory Lane 4 years ago just to pick this up. This is the bike that forced me to learn how to redo ND Model Ds, bearings, chain cleaning, horn and light contacts . . . The bars are replacements and the grips are NOS Hunt Wilde. I will be putting a correct dog leg crank back on it. I swapped out the severely twisted original for another crank years ago.The bobbing birds were apparently for safety, yeah right. The taillight is NOS Delta as well. It had the mud flap on it when I got it. I fixed the rack clip by hacking a fender stay off a tricycle and bolting it on. It rides like a Caddy, just finished 40 kms on it today. Nothing on this is for sale, lol, so don't ask! Happy riding!
