I was able to find a little time ( me time ) and do some finishing work on the trike. Still would like to add some lights, cool chain guard, and a few other things.

since it was sunny today I thought I would snap off some pic to share with you all

lol thanks guys!

pedal powered tank

lolol I took it for a little ride today for the first time, and your right........ lolol

as for the fenders you ask?

The front ones I made. The back one came from a stock Norco Sekine....I'm now thinking of switching it out for a felt sweeper like this one

Steve asked

Sure! I only do this set up for the high end bikes due to the cost involved. But they are worth the price! Once you have tried one you will have a tuff time going back. They are much better...you will get and feel a better power stroke. Plus you just can't go wrong when it comes to quality compared to the one piece. however the more you pay, the stronger, smoother, lighter and more reliable the bottom bracket will be.

here is one very much like the one I used on this bike

imgWrapper.aspx

you can see they come with press in threaded cups to hold the axle in place. it not unlike the old old old ones we see on our Hawthorns etc....this one comes with aircraft style sealed bearings :D coool!

3 piece cranks are known to be the tougest option when it comes to bottom brackets and cranksets. They do however weigh more than a one piece crank and as a result are used when strength is the the higest priority. 3 piece cranks are usually supplied as a tough axle, chrome molly cranks plus and bottom bracket. With 3 piece cranks, most manufacterures have thier own fittings and sizes.

when it comes to install ...it is more complicated :? and care should be taken

the chain you see is just for show! its the same size chain you would find on a motorcycle. I did it because it just looks cool!

I will be sure to do a play by play when I do my HotRod Build

So did that bike have the standard size BB?

What can you expect to pay for a full 3 piece set up like you showed above?

Wow man this thing has really come along way.... i love the sweeper fenders but maybe you should use them on a later build i think you have found perfection in this trike already

question

yes it did.

What can you expect to pay for a full 3 piece set up like you showed above?

well it depends on your supplier I guess.....they on average like Bicylerick stated around the $120 dollar mark and then the sky is the limit.

the one I placed on this bike I belive was around the $160+ mark..... retail

gravediggerjason I belive you are right....I have a plan for the sweepers........I think you guys with like it....for now I will say 51 Hiawatha. 8)

if you go to
http://www.danscomp.com/products.php?pages=2&items=30&cat=PARTS&show=Cranks&by=NAME

there a few 3 pieces cranks for less than 100$.

I got mine on my rat fink for 80$ fom a ebay store that was liquitating NOS

Another good reason to look for used BMX bikes at the thrift shops. I recently found a nice set of chrome Redline Flights on a discarded frame. Danscomp also sells a nice lightweight aluminum set for around $40, they look similar to road bike cranks and are plenty strong for cruising.
