this bike is still under construction. im calling this project the "retro metro" cuz its a retro lookin bmx frame/fork/handlebars and ill be using it to cruise about the city. i painted the rear wheel disc cover, stem face plate, chainring, (these are not the bikes original pedal/crank assembly) and seat post to match the license plate (pictured also) i painted the pedal stems black to match the seat and tires. the hub, spokes, and the brackets that will hold the license plate will all be white to match the pedals. the spokes/hub/mounting brackets are all masked and primed, ready to paint (pictured below) the license plate has my name, and is the license plate my parents put on my first car when they gave it to me when i was 16. i found it in my garage so its goin on the bike!!!! this will be my new "daily driver" and thats why theres so many reflectors cuz i do alot of riding at night. the plate will mount via 2 reflector bracktets, one that mounts through the hole in the front fork that the caliper brake would mount through, and another that attaches on the steer tube at the headset. i had to go through a ton of em to get 2 that would match up right to mount something flat too. im also posting pics of the custom laced wheel i put together for it (the front wheel in the pics is not the right one, just wanted to see it w/ a wheel on it!) i put a hub with more flange holes than holes in the rim and did a custom 20 spoke lacing - this is pic is before i took it apart to paint the hub and spokes. i still gotta find something creative to do with the empty holes in the rim and the flange. the seat post is the handle off of an excercise bike that had the back and forth arm movement, i have the other handle on another project! being a lowrider guy i really dig seat posts like this, gives it a real lowrider/chopper kind of look when yer on the bike, and i think it looks really cool! i also dont like bananna seats or bmx seats, the gel seats w/ cushions are just my type!! i have a chain gaurd for it but i have alot of work to do to it before its ready to mount. the kickstand came off a different bike too, it was too tall so i laid it over the edge of a cinder block and beat it w/ a malet until it was bent enough to use on this bike. i cant wait to post this thing when its done!!! fast eddie outty
