I've been wanting to do this one for a while; funny how many folks seem to have similar ideas right now. I loved my StingRay when I was a kid - and still do - but at 6 ft. tall, it's not much fun to crawl on them now!
So, I decided I wanted a StingRay that I could fit on now. I started with a new Schwinn DelMar from Wally World (an idea I got from a member on the Schwinn site), and added red Weinmann alloy rims with black spokes, Nexus 3-spd. hub & twist-shift, Bontrager 26 x 2.125 whitewalls, chrome ducktail fenders, 26"-er flamed banana seat and low-style sissy bar, and '68 StingRay bars. Not very "ratty", but it is "roddy", and it really does feel just like the StingRays did when I was a kid - but fits my 6-foot body (and my "hot rod" tastes):
What it started as (I've gotta say, not a bad bike for so little money):
After the Monster-Size StingRay treatment:
