So I thought the guys at the Schwinn Heritage site would like to check out my Higgy. I start a thread with a link to my pics here. The thread started out real good with other guys showing off their Rats. It was all good.

Next thing you know, I get this PM:

Hello,

Schwinn provides the Forums for members and vintage bicycle enthusiasts to buy, sell and trade SCHWINN related items among themselves.

Please do not post about other brands the Schwinn Forums.

Thank you,
The Mods

Then my thread gets perished.

Funny thing, I see other threads on Huffys and other non-Schwinn brands.

It just reinforces why this site is da bomb!

There has been a real nasty vibe over there lately. Big brother is watching and he seems kinda grumpy
Too bad, it used to be a pretty cool site.

There have been all kinds of members getting the boot over there, they even got rid of the hyper-formance.com link! One of the ex-members actually created his own musclebike forum, seems like a much friendlier place.

When I first started this forum I made a post about it which was deleted and I received a PM telling me that they didn't allow posting of any other websites in their forum.

What made me laugh was that they thought that somehow my little site was going to bring down Pacific Cycle and put them all out on the street.

If anything, it probably would have strengthened their forum by allowing cross posting.

It is interesting how their forum isn't referenced here much anymore...guess folks are content with what's going on here.

Don't get me wrong, there are some awesome guys on the schwinn site, but the moderators need to get a life. They won't allow Pete (hyperformance) to advertise anymore, probably the best source for Schwinn Stingray/Krate parts ever. They won't allow anything non-Schwinn over there anymore whatsoever. No one is allowed to post links to any other websites either. It's like Stalin came back to life and became chairman of Schwinn.

That's what I thought too. He used to have a sticky at the top of the classified's "Hyper-formance.com is your source for......." They removed that. It's real shame, that forum is on the verge of dying.

By the way...I sold that Schwinn site to Ric aka "Fastback Maniac".

He's done some good things with the forum. :D

This is the first forum i have ever been a part of, i like it here it makes me feel like im at home. Oh wait a minute i am at home.
Im not good with snobs.

I left the schwinn forum a week or two ago, best decision I ever made. Its gone so far downhill. This site is so much better I hardly ever went there anyways

Its pretty obvious that many members on that site are stressed over what is going on. The funny thing is that most of the rules that are being enforced have always been there. It just seems that now for some reason an enforcement vengence has come into play.I would also have to agree that it's pretty insulting what was done to Hyper-formance, not only is he the best source for Sting- ray and Krate parts, but he has purchased and owns outright the rights to many of the faithful repro. Parts he sells! Many people who loved these little bikes would be inclined to buy Schwinn again just from the memories afforded by seeing one again. The enforcement has not been 100% just yet, and I hope it never is. There are a lot of people involved or that have been involved in Schwinn history that have made huge sources of info.available through this site.It would be a shame to chase these people off and limit the collective knowledge afforded by them.Lets face it, if Pacific Cycles were left with a site that showed the new "Schwinn" offerings and not much else, that would probably be a pretty short lived experience.Although the irony of arrogance and being short sighted within the Schwinn biz. Has not been wasted on me.Guess they are not up on their own namesakes history, so I guess they might be inclined to repeat it!

I live fairly close to the Pacific Cycle world headquarters. I could leave a flaming bag of poop on their doorstep.
