that wasn't what i thought it would be.
i remember some years back there was this deal where a group of people would get together for a bike ride, but it would be a really slow cruise, kinda blocking traffic. i think it was part bike ride, part demonstration or protest for cyclists sharing the streets. haven't seen it done in a while though. i thought maybe that was it's name.

One of the highlights of Tour de Fat shows is a slow bike race, pretty funny stuff.
I tried the slow race at Tour de Fat this last fall. It was good goofy fun.
Critical mass is another thing entirely. CM, to my thinking is a good candidate for the worst idea to EVER come up in the bike riding scene.
Yeah- Get a few hundred people to block streets, jam traffic, inconvenience hundreds of motorists, and generally get as many drivers furiously angry at bicyclists as you possibly can. Great publicity, huh? Talk to some people who have been stuck behind one of these cluster flocks when they're trying to get to work, or to an event. You will not find much love for bicyclists.
