Glad to be recognized for shooting down awesome work! haha It was fun, and my intent now is to concentrate on builds all year long instead of just during the build-off. I have lots of bikes to work on.

Great post peat!

It just goes to re-enforce something that I got an inkling of last year and realized tenfold this year.

Bikes built during the Build Off are truly more like collaborative builds than independent stand alone builds.

For example, who knows what my BO7 bike build would have been if it weren't for the Pre - BO7 Hype Up thread that Double Nickel started. In that thread he hinted at buying a TwinFlex frame for BO7 and it got me thinking later on when i was trying to work out what to do with my Spaceliner. But even beyond that for me I can look through many different elements of my build that wouldn't have happened without direct or indirect feedback from fellow RRBers.

I am sure that most of our BO7 build brothers and sisters could point to similar items or directions they went with on their builds.

That collaborative environment is what makes the RRB Build Offs the greatest show on earth!!!!

Thanks everyone for helping me build my bike!!!

What I learned....

1. While it is a build-off, the real "prize" is your bike. Build one that you like/want. Everyone who joins and finishes is a winner. A trophy is nice, but a killer rat bike that YOU want is much better.

2. Don't stress jumping in. The other builders are super cool and helpful. We all want to see each other succeed.

3. Don't be afraid to ask for feedback and be sure to offer your opinions when someone else asks for advice. I think you would be surprised to see how much information sharing happens. The more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it.

That I need to tone it down a bit.

Sidehacked! literally consumed my life. When I wasn't passing out from heat stroke, I was working on this bike. And when I was running out of time, I couldn't do the kind of finish (paint) that I wanted. Plus a few doo-dads and gee-gaws that it could have used (being done now). When the build consumes you it kinda' sucks the fun out of it.

For next year I want to do a very simple build and spend more time in the details. Plus I'm goin' full Rat and I might spray right over the frame with no sanding............... Yea, that kind of build. I'd also like to be able to follow more builds, Vulturewing caught me by suprise.
I would have like to have known about another side car build.

But!, I did meet my goal of double-digit votes. Now that I think of it, that's pretty impressive considering I started with an OCC chopper, not alot of love for that bike(with good reason!). So I'm gonna' offer a special challenge for RRBO8. If you build an OCC chopper next year and WIN, I shall send you a Major Award.

Is it a bowling alley?

Yes!, it'll being delivered by 2 guys and a truck!

This will be even funnier if someone tries it. :D Maybe Karfer will turn one into a Dragon.

I'm gonna build an TwinFlex OCC Folding Beer Bike with a Water Ski that transforms to Flying Tiger airplane wings (and a pinball machine (CCR))!!!!!!!!
