Bikes have always been very purposeful to me. I needed a nice mountain bike for trails and I needed a trick bike for playing. Either bike doubled for road or cruising duty. I passed up free bikes, cheap bikes, and threw stuff away all the time.

I had a memory and I looked back through some photos, my father-in-law was cleaning out his old barn, a culmination of his parents and granparents barns. I loaded a couple rusty bike frames, forks, and wheels into my truck that he was throwing away and took them to my house just to decorate the outside of my shop. Left them there for a few years and then took them to the dump. These were likely pre-war frames, I remember at least one having a 2 top tubes. Makes me sick that I just threw these in the metal pile at the dump.

Here's the photo, look above the hood of the Samurai and you can see a bike hanging, obviously I was into different hobbies at the time, but man, did I screw up... what did you let go before you started ratting bikes?

And sold these dirt cheap...
This was an old Philips, Made in England, 3 speed Sturmy archer hub, chrome was dead perfect, elderly lady down the road gave it to me for free, sold it for $25.

If all this happened recently, then what are you doing here? haha

I just started getting back into the rat rod bikes in the last few months, I've always been into old bikes but only recently finding out they are worth money. Only reason I scrapped so much stuff was they were mostly Huffy, Murry, and other "junk" bikes and I thought I was going to be moving out of state so I had to clear out a bunch of stuff. Now I really regret it. The Philips did go to a collector and he gave me a good deal on another bike so it eased the pain a bit but still wish I had it again, and the Schwinn went to a friend that haggled me down on it when I was hard up for cash. If I'd have known about this site before I'd have sold it here or parted it down.
