Today I pulled down a squirrels nest from the backyard tree and a small AMERICAN flag came down with all the leaves.I dont know where the critters got it or how long its been up there.

Its ripped up,dirty, tattered and torn, but it still has its Pride.

I'm gently cleaning it as best I can without destroying it any more than it is.

It WILL hang PROUDLY in my workshop.I dont care how tattered it looks,I KNOW what it represents!

GOD BLESS AMERICA

I saw a story on the news a while back. This guy kept putting small american flags on his fence, and they would disappear. After going through numerous flags, he ended up putting a camera out there because he thought kids were taking them. Ended up being squirrels taking them for nesting material.

I ride with the flag in my van every day. On nice days there is an old veteran that sits on his lawn in a chair holding a flag watching traffic go by. I always wave my flag back at him. I keep meaning to stop and sit with him, perhaps listen to his stories. God Bless America and thank you Veterans!

Yeah ACD, do stop. I've met and talked to numerous vets. From sailors to air crews and infantry men all have great stories. Even had the chance to talk to a De Havilland Mosquito pilot, his eyes lit up like you wouldn't believe when he realized that I had a clue about what he was talking about(I'm an airplane buff as well). It made my day and most importantly it made his. Veterans are very greatful when they find out that some people don't forget about them and their sacrifice. Thank you to all veterans who served with honor. Freedom doesn't come cheap or free.

Just outta curiosity(maybe this should be another thread) is there any other veterans who are also rats? I served 76-79 in the 82nd airborne, 1/504 in a mortar squad. As much as I hated it then it was the best thing I could have done at that point of my life.Would like to see other Rat/Vets post. 8)

I stopped and talked to this old Korean war vet, He stopped me because he liked my bike. He said he had one like it when he got home from korea. I let him ride it, He was so happy he was near tears. Made me feel good inside.
