26" mtb ally frame, 27" wheels, 'lowered' front forks

i just dont know where to go

apologies for the awsome glow effect, the light was odd today

well thats my xcuse

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

24" on the back, turn the front forks back around with 3' apes. :) layed back seat post and of course the fattest tires you can fit. just a thought. :)

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

if it were mine id probably go with some 6" coffin bars, prewar seatpost(or laid back if you will) to bring the seat back right over the rear tire with a brooks b66 or similar seat 26x2.125 rear tire and leave the 27 up front and a monark springer up there too and black out everything(btw take it for what its worth....just my $.01  )

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

itd look super phat with a 24" rear wheel and it has some mad space up the rear you could get something really wide back there. waddya recon about radial spoking the front wheel. im not sure what coffin bars are, but as long as they dont put me in one im cool with them.

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

heres one(actually 2) with coffin bars...
the trike on the left and the one in the center(id go shorter on the length though)

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

nice they could be easily made with some 90 bends and water/gaspipe, i do like the cruiser style swoopy bars tho but theyd be harder, ive got some old skool pedals to go on it too, i might fit my 1/8th phillips front chainring/crank setup, but i think its a bit elliptical. cos it keeps bending axels

could just be the choclate that they make em from tho.

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

got the front forks done today, fitted with 27 and brake

the headset should be goin in tomorrow, so we could have a roller by saturday,
still lookin for a 24" wheel

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

This looks like a fun project. A 24" rear and some bars with loads of sweep on them would be cool.

I spy a Billy's sticker, choice of champions!

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

i tell you billys are the best, you barely finish ordering and the parts are here, i tried the source and found they were good too.
i would love a nana seat but the only bike i have with one needs it and this frame has a really gurt seatpost, it must b nearly 2". im gonna go up the dump and see if theyve got any 24's up there. i need bars like on jonthegun's bike.

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

got a 26x1 3/8 3 speed dynamo hub wheel with stainless dunlop rim for
free
thanks to the kind man at the tip

got a new rear wheel today, swapped it for 2 wheels and a 3speed shifter.
i think i might stick with the 26 in the rear now
whats the veiws on bmx handlebars? they make it comfy. i think a prewar/layback post is a must now

mounted the shifter down here, like a suicide jobby on a motorbike

i want some springer forks now, nice crome 26" ones
mite have some moto x handlebars for it tomorrow

should really be: this is where i went with this

well this is how it turned out

Before ride

After ride

in the end i thought id build it up as a sort of XC rig, she still has the 3 speed, this time bult in an MTB size 26" wheel
it rides soooo nice, not really a rat rod but it aint really a MTN bike with a 3 speed hub
the bontrager springer saddle is well good too, gets a bit bouncy though!

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

I like where this has gone. I can't tell if you still have the brake on the front fork, but if you are keeping a brake up front and would like to eliminate all those washers, I have a cylindrical aluminum spacer (it may have even come from a brake setup? Don't know for sure) that you are welcome to if you would like. I can pm you a picture if you'd like.

Re: any ideas on where to go with this?

thanks for the offer but the forks have been swapped out for some disc specific and the wheel size has changed. im now just counting the pennies till i can afford a decent front disc. its workin all right with just a rear brake atm
