Mama spotted these at a barn sale so I paid her back. :D

These road bikes need a lot of work. However, the brakes and derailleurs work good on both of them, and that's what I look for the most. Otherwise, you'll have to open up your wallet for cables and spend a lot of time dealing with that.

Can anyone tell me what the Excelsior is worth before I put it on the CL?

Seeing as how thats a womans model and its a far cry from "clean" the value will be based in nostalgia and or sentiment. That being said, dating it would probably help w/your sale. I see some good parts there, this is usually where the money is on the older womans bikes. I would probably start @ $150.00 for a quick sale (were it mine) and see what kind of a response I got. Keep in mind, a decent set of painted S-2 wheels should fetch that alone (or close to that).

Just noticed the wheels are mis-matched, so much for the $100.00 wheelset! Its funny how everyone calls the Schwinn colors Root Beer.

Thanks for the info Rick.

Yeah, that's a root beer Varsity. I always call them that too; the color is nice. I sold one root beer 10-speed for $80 and two World Tourists for $55 and $100. Is it the color or... ?
