I hope you guys will allow my build. This is your chance to tell me no.

I post bicycle build videos on TikTok and I had a few people request a klunker. On September 26th I posted a “test” video on my 1957 JC Higgins men’s bike on a local trail.

Then on September 28th I posted a video of me stripping the bike down to the frame.

The next day on the 29th I posted a video of me putting paint stripper on the frame to remove the paint (unsuccessful).

So, all this is to let you guys know that this was technically started before the October 1 start date.

So I am asking permission to join this build with my 1957 JC Higgins bike.

Is it just sitting stripped in this state now?

This was the last day I “worked” on it in September. 6 days ago I started some actual work on it and all that is time documented on TikTok, but if I’m allowed to proceed here I will give those updates.

I was simply laying out what I did with the bike before the October start date, which was basically just disassembly.

The only problem I have is NOBODY TOLD ME THERE WERE BIKES ON TIK TOK!
Haha, there’s everything on TikTok, the algorithm will figure out what you like real quick and deliver those things to you, the problem is, most guys can’t get past the “hot girls dancing” stuff. Once you’ve ignored that you can see some cool cars, trucks, bikes, etc.

That’s the kind of content I make, I have over 180k followers.

He's watched you

I think you are fine rule wise. I see no unfair advantage you gained by unbuilding the bike before the start date.
Glad to see you back on RRB brother. I don't know if we've ever had a TikTok star enter a build off before. :D Just remember, no bikinis in your ride video. :D

Okay, not sure where to start. When I thought about taking the JC Higgins off the market (had it for sale for around $120 and nobody was interested for months) and turning it into a klunker I knew I wanted to take the 2.4 wide knobbies off my full suspension bike and using them on it.

I stole the alloy coaster wheels from my daughter’s unused Trek cruiser and mated the wheels and tires together.

I pulled a 26” bmx style fork from the collection that fit the head tube.

I threw it together.

And I was in love.

The rear tire would not turn so I cut out the fender brackets and cut off the drop outs. Made my own cross braces from some tube and cut the drop outs off a BMX bike to replace the drops. CD201D1B-D22A-4F26-9703-2319EB51B0B4.jpeg505BDBA0-15B9-4403-B0C8-0774EE065CFC.jpeg
