im ready to bite the bullet and try wheel lacing. i think. my son outgrew his 16inch bmx. it got 20-something spokes, cant remember exactly. my question is: is this a good wheel to start with, or should i find a 20-26 incher? i dont know if the small wheel would be easier or harder to learn on than a normal size. maybe it doesnt matter? this is the only wheel building question i havent seen discussed anywhere.

Smaller wheels are harder as there are less spokes and rims are generally cheap. The lacing part is the same on most rims, it is the truing that is hard on the smaller ones.

thanks for the input. i thought fewer spokes would make it easier, it was their shorter length i was worried about. i figured since it was already there id try it, but now ill look for a bigger wheel to learn on. i dont want my first experience at lacing to be a bad one.
