Just picked up this Goodyear Highway Patrol bike (1966) according to hub. Tires appear to be original, holding air but cracking.
Size is 26x 1 3/8....can I put a little wider tire on here as I will be riding some paved road and some gravel. These aren't like
the older Schwinns where you need certain tires.....are they?
Also, is this original seat? Looks like old Huffy seat like you see on their tandems.

Yep...they are a bit of an outdated size, but they are NOT the Schwinn proprietary size you speak of. The fact it's embossed with 'British Standard' reveals that this is an ISO 590 wheel & tire combo. The Kenda K40 tire is likely your best bet for a replacement, although they are no wider than what you already have.

BTW, bike shop commonly refer to those tires as EA3.

I think the seat is original. It matches the bike and those Troxel (just guessing) seats were common on American bikes.
