We had our town's fall festival today and my kids seem to make sure our house is the central hang out for their friends. Through out the day we had 8 or 10 kids in and out and I supplied bikes to all of them to ride back and forth the few blocks to the festivities. Well suprisingly one of the mountain bikes I got today came up missing. I spoke with our boys in blue and then started my own hunt. Luckily our town is only about 10 blocks in any direction and soon I spotted a young kid struggling to ride a mountain bike that was FAR too big for him. I called for the young man who had ridden it last to meet me to make sure it was mine. He varified that it was mine and I approached the boy that had it. He claimed it was his, it was his friends, he got it from home, he used to own it but he had sold it. When he couldn't keep his story straight and wouldn't admit to taking it I decided to call in the professionals. Two of our officers showed up and he contenued to stumble through his story. Turned out he was in town visiting his grandmother. They loaded him into the back of their cruiser and drove to have a chat with grandma. I got the bike back and hopefully he learned a lesson and will get on the right track. The bike was the absolute worst of the bikes I have at the moment, but you do not mess with my bikes. I will find you!

Some kids........I normally try to get a cheapish bike built up for less fortunate neighborhood kids and give away a few a year just so I got my lookouts out there, any bike gets stolen from me, All I got to do is ask one of the kids that got a free bike from me and in one or two school days they tell me exactly who has it, name, age, address, and probably a parent's cell phone number too.........lol  . Kids like to brag about new stuff even when it's stolen so make a few friends in the school and they tell on themselves.
