Touch up clear coat?

I've been stripping and cleaning an 86 Sierra in Black Chrome. << actually the reason I bought it.
I'm down to frame and fork, the paint is beautiful but the clear coat over it is fairly dinged up. I tried a little rubbing compound on the underside and it helped but there are a lot of dings.

Any tips on how to proceed? The paint itself seems ok.

Wet sand 1000-2000 grit and recoat

Sometimes 3000 grit will buff it them out depending on how deep they are

You can try polishing compound on a slow wheel. Otherwise agreed, high grit count wet sanding

If your useing mcquires and it's not coming out then 3000 grit will not work (mcquires containc 3000 grit) scratches to deep. What ever you use test on the incase the black is the clear coat.
