So here's a few projects I almost wrapped up this weekend. The first is a 60's Western Flyer For the wife I picked up off good ol' Craigslist for free! She picked the frame color and I went to town. Still need to add the custom stickers I'm designing that will say "Fundy Flyer" as that's the area of the North Atlantic she's from. Also have a vintage cream saddle and grips coming. Gotta pick up a chain as well. The fenders need more tweaking as well. They're rubbing the 2.125's a bit.

Next up is the '65 Murray Missile I picked up last week. The thing was in AMAZING condition. I'll done so far is polish the chrome to almost like new condition and add the red tires I had laying around. I also flipped the light to go under the bars for a bit more stream-lined look. Frame still needs a good rub down. And before all the bar-flip haters that think they're played out get going, here's my take on them. Think about a '49 Merc. Great looking car stock...now chop the top...completely different look that just sets the car off! I feel the same away about flipped bars. I need to add the rear light and generator back on the bike. But it will basically stay like this. Classic hot rod style. Just enough to set off from the stock bike. Oh ya, got add new brake pads also ;)

Should be some chill cruisin' on these two!

Love the Murray & the flipped handlebars look great. If you love them that's all that counts in the end.

Just flipping the bars doesn't make a bike great, but flipping doesn't make it bad.
Thanks for reminding me about the 49 Mercs. I never tire of looking at those either.
You and she are a lucky couple.

Are you in Wolcott CT? If so then you're like a mile from my house and I have two questions: 1) Will you sell that Columbia in the rack outside, cause that thing is sweet and 2) What the hecks is that round multi-person bike-like thing? Did you guys build that thing yourself? If you are the same place I'm thinking of, could you please post pics of that thing?

Great bikes, great choice on upgrades. I just picked up a murray identical to yours minus the light and brake. Havent done any reasearch yet but by the looks of it you have me on the right trail. I thought it might be a jet fire bit ill be looking into the missle! I also debated red tires but man your is a convincing "yes" vote.

Those are 26x2.125's. They're CLOSE to the fenders. Takes some tweaking. Good luck with your build!

I also just noticed I didn't put my nice shiny chain guard back on! Doh! Oh well. Looks good with and without it.

Did that seat post on yours come with it? I want it!

Thought so... They look great. Ill be starting a build thread soon. Again, great bike man

Diggin' on the Murray. I really like those half tanks. That seat looks like hurts after about 5 minutes. My tailbone is aching just looking at it. :p

the seat and post came on mine... the seat is co comfortable you would never believe.

you plan on putting the lights ect back on?

Yup. Lights are going back on once I rewire it. Just need to figure out a way to mount the rear light on the under side of the rack. Came mounted on the frame. Not feeling it. The other option is to fit it to the rear fender which already has a hole in it where the stock reflector use to be. Otherwise, I gotta drill the rack which I'm not totally up for, as it would ruin it. I would rather keep the thing as stock as possible with subtle changes to make it "mine."
