My uncle Joel was my favorite in-law. He smoked cigars, flew model planes and sadly passed away about 15 years ago. My aunt Susan offered me his old bike when she learned I was into fixing bikes up, and since I was in the neighborhood Saturday, I made a side trip and picked it up. All i knew about it is that it was an old Schwinn he used to ride around his Atlantic Beach neighborhood.
Imagine my surprise when I opened up the garage and found this!

It even had some old stickers still on the tank...

I brought it out and pumped up the tires on a whim, and they held air! Of course I had to ride it...

brought it home and hosed it off...

Not just a Hornet...but a Deluxe Hornet...original and complete. A tip of the hat to Uncle Joel. He had good taste. Gary
