v belts and hp?

Not sure but I have this old folding scooter with a 5 hp engine and it can go 40 mph.

The v-belt on my hemi runs the waterpump and alt at well over 600 h.p. Horsepower has nothing to do with it though. Speed of rotation and belt friction (contact area) against the pullys are the factors.

How about the torque required to turn the shaft, sheave ratios and maybe the belt tension......??
Gates or Continental both have calculators on their websites
