My dad was airborne WWII and fought in Germany and his brother was a medic who was in the first landing on Normandy beach. Me, I joined the army reserves when I was 31. I was a drill Sargent on active duty orders state side several times, but luckily never got ordered into war. Much respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice!

My story is very similar. 5 Uncles served in WW2. Uncle Tony was a Marine Raider and was KIA at
the Battle of Edson's Ridge, Guadalcanal at age 20. My dad was in the 45th Div. during the second
Korean Winter of 1951-52. Brother, Nephews, Cousins, all served. I enlisted into the NYARNG when
I was 17 and had an on again off again service record. Retired out with 23 years. One stateside
deployment was on a sunny September day in 2001. Me and the boys had to take a ride into NYC
to help out with a couple of buildings that came down. Back then many of my young friends went
Active Duty and deployed overseas to the "sand box." It's more than just a little tough when they come
home messed up and wounded. Unbearable stress making them take their lives. Nothing but respect
for the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Respect for the men and women who served
and those who still wear the uniform. It takes a lot of praying.
I'm going to leave this one up for a few days and then edit it for content. Thanks for understanding. PETE
