I am excited. Today I went to my first SWAP MEET ever in Hutch. I got a Blue women's schwinn bike for $40. It's got nice rims and I'm going to harvest it for its frame to assemble with the back part of a trike I got on the way home from the MEET at Buhler for $30 dollars. Yes, $30!! Read that and weep.I know you all are looking for trike backs.. Though I did see a trike back for 45 dollars from the guy at the SWAP MEET.... The one I got at Buhler though is a Sears and Robuck. So i will assemble best of two bikes and make a super bike along with the ape hanger handlebars and a vintage head lamp my boyfriend, LowpowerD, will put LED lights in.
I have time but I'm thinking about what color I want my bike. Teal is my favorite color. But Lime green is kind of nice too. Maybe orange? Or maybe I should do candy apple red... My original trike is a dark blue So I don't want the 'new" one to be just like it. I think its neat how much the same and how much different the Sears and Robuck trikes are than the Schwinn Town and Country backs are. The Sears and Robuck have their Hub in the middle as for the Town and Country is attached to the rear right wheel.
It will be a woman's trike but I want it to not be too girlie yet make it look welcoming with the various knitted and crocheted items I will also play as I'm a fiber artist I want to apply fibers with this trike. But not necessarily overkill .. I'm going to make yarn tassels and grip covers, a Knitted seat cover and crocheted skirt guards..
I'm just amazed on how we managed to get a full sized woman's bike and a adult trike (Never Mind it had to be completely taken apart) in a Nissan Altima.
I'll have pictures later.
